The Hanok Hotel Doublejae, a joint project of the luxury Nostalgia brand and the younhyun design studio, is located at the starting point of the „Five Courtyards of Bukchon“. The cooperation between Nostalgia and Younhyun combines hanok-based architecture with a curatorial approach to design. The result is a space that conveys tradition in a contemporary form.

The hotel ensemble consists of two neighbouring buildings each with its own garden. The architectural concept is based on the principle of spatial stratification, which can be seen in the sequencing of interior and exterior spaces and in the depth of detail of the materials. Windows, doors, floors and ceilings have been reinterpreted with a high standard of design. In the process, there was a conscious effort to work with traditional techniques that were complemented with a modern design language. Alongside hand-decorated materials, artworks specially commissioned for the project produced by Korean artists were also used. The result is a hanok-inspired hotel that provides a retreat and calm for the guests and at the same time enables an insight into the contemporary understanding of Korean home decor. The equipment was matched to the smallest detail with the architectural concept. In the guest rooms and public areas, switches and sockets from the LS 990 design range in stainless steel and antique brass were installed. Thanks to their thin frames and finely worked surfaces, they integrate harmoniously into the traditional wooden architecture and underscore the calm elegance of the rooms. To complement these, SCHUKO® sockets with USB ports were installed – a practical solution without compromising design for international guests.
