Belconnen Skate Park has set the new benchmark for skate facility provision in Australia and Internationally. Working in collaboration, Oxigen and Convic have created a design which is visually exciting, dynamic and flexible, and contains a range of unique materials that are both functional and sculptural. By working with the landscape setting the team has ensured that the facility is an integrated skate space where the lines blur between facility and the broader public domain whilst ensuring safety and function are maximised. This was achieved not only because of the teams deep-held belief in integrated design, but because of Oxigen’s responsibility for the Eastern Valley Way Inlet public realm design.
